Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were contacted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

An important official said the incident left him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
